We understand that bereavement is a difficult and distressing time and this may be the first time that you have had to choose a Funeral Director. If you are comparing prices, it is important to also compare the level of service that you will receive against ours.

 

We are a family owned business, trading independently since 1847, with a reputation and longevity built on striving for excellence. We deliver a traditional quality service with modern ways of working. We offer free confidential advice on funerals, memorials and pre-paid funeral planning.

We believe in clear and transparent pricing.

Our 24 hour, 365 days a year, telephone helpline, is staffed by fully trained, professional Funeral Managers who live and work in the local area.

Our facilities are first class and have benefitted from continuous investment.

We offer the opportunity to view our premises and meet our staff before you make a decision, if you so wish.

We have the utmost respect for the deceased and are committed to providing the very best service for the bereaved, including free professional bereavement support for our client families through SAIF Care.

We have a private Chapel of Rest for every funeral home – your loved one will always be close by.

We have our own fleet of high specification hearses and limousines, fully air conditioned for your comfort.

Our dedicated team is fully uniformed, highly experienced and all staff are trained through the Independent Funeral Directors College.

We are Members of SAIF – The Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors, and we are bound by their Quality Assurance Programme.

Standardised Price List

All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Price List for a standardised set of products and services. This is to help you think through your options and make choices, and to let you compare prices between different funeral directors (because prices can vary).

ATTENDED FUNERAL (funeral director’s charges only) £2,250.00
Includes the following:
This is a funeral where family and friends have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person at the same time as they attend their burial or cremation. Taking care of all necessary legal and administrative arrangements. £520.00
Collecting and transporting the deceased person from the place of death (normally within 15 miles of the funeral director’s premises) into the funeral director’s care. £135.00
Care of the deceased person before the funeral in appropriate facilities. The deceased person will be kept at the funeral director’s branch premises. £135.00
Providing a suitable coffin, this will be a simple foil veneer wood effect coffin. £425.00
Viewing of the deceased person for family and friends, by appointment with the funeral director (where viewing is requested by the customer). £45.00
At a date and time you agree with the funeral director, taking the deceased person direct to the agreed cemetery or crematorium (normally within 20 miles of the funeral director’s premises) in a hearse or other appropriate vehicle. £990.00
UNATTENDED FUNERAL
This is a funeral where family and friends may choose to have a ceremony, event or service for the deceased person, but they do not attend the burial or cremation itself.
Burial (funeral director’s charges only) £1,245.00
Cremation (funeral director’s charges plus the cremation fee) ² £1,695.00
FEES YOU MUST PAY
For an Attended or Unattended burial funeral, the burial fee. ¹
In this local area, the typical cost of the burial fee for local residents is: £165.00 to £2,127.00
For a new grave, you will also need to pay for the plot; for an existing grave with a memorial in place, you may need to pay a removal/replacement fee. In addition, the cemetery may charge a number of other fees.
For an Attended cremation funeral, the cremation fee. ²
In this local area, the typical cost of a cremation for local residents’ is: £450.00 to £1,095.00

ADDITIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTOR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
This funeral director may be able to supply a range of optional, additional products and services, or to arrange (on your behalf) for a third party to supply them. Examples include:

The funeral director can give you a full list of what they can supply. They are likely to charge for these additional products and services, so you may choose to take care of some arrangements without their involvement, or you can use a different supplier.

¹ This fee (which is sometimes called the interment fee) is the charge made for digging and closing a new grave, or for reopening and closing an existing grave.

² In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you will usually need to pay doctors’ fees as well. This is the charge for two doctors to sign the Medical Certificates for Cremation.

Simple Funeral

This simple funeral includes popular options most commonly requested by our client families, with flexibility to add further options as detailed below.

Services included: Professional Fees, including coffin.
Local removal of the deceased during normal working hours from either private residence or hospital, to our private Chapel of Rest.
Provision of our professional services, facilities, advice and funeral arrangements.
A simple foil veneer wood effect coffin.
Preparation of the deceased and unlimited viewings during working hours, by appointment.
Transportation for the funeral by our hearse to a local crematorium or cemetery with four bearers and a funeral conductor in attendance.
Collection, collation and distribution of donations made in memory online.
Collection of cremated remains and their return to our funeral home. £2,350.00

We will initially make all payments to clergy, crematorium or cemetery, doctors, newspapers etc., as required or instructed, and then itemise these on your account.

Direct Cremation

With this option you have the flexibility to add further services, as detailed below.

Services included: Professional Fees, including coffin.
Local removal of the deceased during normal working hours from either private residence or hospital, to our private Chapel of Rest.
Provision of our professional services, facilities, advice and funeral arrangements.
A basic coffin.
Transportation to a local crematorium, inclusive of cremation fee and medical certificates, as required. £1,695.00

Bespoke Funeral

With our Bespoke Funeral, you can have the funeral you want with full flexibility to choose your preferred coffin, limousines and additional options from our full range of services.

Professional Services included: (excluding coffin - please see choices below).
Local removal of the deceased during normal working hours from either private residence or hospital, to our private Chapel of Rest.
Provision of our professional services, facilities, advice and funeral arrangements.
Preparation of the deceased and unlimited viewings at any time, by appointment.
Transportation for the funeral by our hearse to a local crematorium or cemetery with four bearers and a funeral conductor in attendance. This includes the option for the hearse to travel via a home address, then to a church, crematorium or cemetery, with a total travelling distance of thirty miles.
Collection, collation and distribution of donations made in memory online.
Collection of cremated remains and their return to our funeral home. £2,275.00

(All prices listed are based on a standard adult cremation). Due to circumstances beyond our control, prices may be subject to variation and will be confirmed in your funeral quotation. 

Legal Information

TERMS OF BUSINESS

On acceptance of our written estimate of funeral costs, payment of a minimum deposit payment is required at least 3 days in advance of the date of the funeral. The amount of the deposit is set out below:

Attended & Bespoke Funerals: The total cost of all third party disbursements.

Unattended & Direct Cremation Funerals: 100% of the total cost of the written estimate.

We reserve the right to request 100% of the total cost of the written estimate, regardless of the type of funeral selected, under certain circumstances.

Any balance owed on the funeral account following receipt of all deposit payments made, will be due strictly 30 days from the date of our funeral invoice.

Invoices not paid by the due date, where we have not approved any delay in payment will be passed to our Collection Agency or solicitors, without further reference to you. All costs incurred in the recovery of overdue invoices will be met by you. We reserve the right to charge interest on all outstanding balances from the invoice date at a rate of 2% per calendar month.
